Remembering Our OMies

We honor and remember our OMies - those in the ocular melanoma community who have bravely faced this disease and whose light continues to inspire us. Their courage, love, and resilience leave an enduring impact on our hearts and on the ongoing fight against ocular melanoma.

As we remember their lives, we carry forward their spirit through advocacy, research, and support for others still on this journey. Their memory reminds us why we continue to strive for hope, healing, and a cure.

In Loving Memory of Clay Butler

Beloved Cartoonist, Surfer, Husband, Father, and Friend

Clay Butler was a man whose creativity, humor, and spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A gifted cartoonist, Clay’s art reflected his sharp wit, love of storytelling, and unique way of finding laughter in the everyday. His work brought smiles to countless faces and captured life’s moments with honesty and heart.

Beyond his artistic brilliance, Clay was a true free spirit - most at home in the ocean, riding waves with the same joy and fearlessness that defined his life. Surfing wasn’t just a pastime for him; it was a reflection of his outlook - to stay balanced through life’s swells, to move with grace, and to find peace in the rhythm of nature.

Clay faced ocular melanoma, a rare and aggressive eye cancer, with remarkable courage and resilience. Even as he navigated the challenges of this disease, he continued to inspire through his humor, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He met every day with the same strength and creativity that defined his art and his life.

He was a devoted husband and father, whose love was the foundation of his world, and a cherished friend who lifted others with compassion and laughter.

Clay’s legacy lives on - in his art, his family, the waves he rode, and the countless hearts he touched. His life reminds us to laugh often, love deeply, and embrace every moment with courage and creativity.

Forever missed, and never forgotten.
